  IMS AB60 Position Update:

Re: California State Senate Bill 88 (SB88) was signed by the Governor.

Good News!

The Senate reconvened in August, and on the 25th, unanimously passed the bill. It was signed by Governor Davis on September 16, 2000.

You remember the AB60 issue - this new California law imposed an overtime pay requirement for work beyond 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week, effectively putting an end to flexible work hours for hourly IT professionals.

This went into effect March 1st. The net result has been that managers could not afford to pay these overtime rates. This had caused both employees and employers to suffer.

SB 88 is designed to bring relief. It reinstates worker flexibility with regard to hourly IT professionals who make at least $41/hour or more.
